On August 2, the “Yukata de Ginbura” event was held in Ginza.
This event is held every year to commemorate the first pedestrian-only zone implemented in Ginza, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, and Asakusa in August 1970. In Ginza, the area from the intersection of Ginza 1-chome and Ginza-dori to the intersection of Ginza 8-chome becomes a pedestrian-only zone on weekends and holidays, and this year it was bustling with many people.
This year marks the 19th anniversary of “Yukata de Ginbura,”and the event saw an unexpectedly large number of people dressed in yukata, making Ginza even more vibrant than usual. Particularly memorable was the “Ginza Meiten Yatai” (Ginza Famous Store Food Stalls), which debuted last year. This year, even more famous stores participated, with each stall drawing long lines of customers.
With good weather, the cool evening breeze made spending time in yukata in Ginza a true summer tradition. The cool yet lively atmosphere is something you can't experience anywhere else.
