The Trial and Appeal Department of the Japan Patent Office has recently released a 2024 report prepared by the Trial and Appeal Practitioner Study Group. The report is divided into six categories: “Machinery,” “Chemistry 1 (General Chemistry),” “Chemistry 2 (Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology),” “Electricity,” “Design,” and “Trademarks.”

For your information, Mrs. Yukako Ohtake, one of our patent attorneys, is also with the Trial and Appeal Department of the Japan Patent Office, and was heavily involved in the administration of the foregoing categories “Chemistry 2” and “Design.”
